AEDs can be used by anyone in an emergency situation. The devices are simple to use and can save lives. In order to increase the chances of survival, it is important that everyone know how to use an AED in the event of an emergency.

It's vitally important that someone on the site knows how to use this AED is always best to have someone who is trained in using them available in case something goes wrong. If you are ever in a situation where an AED is available, remember to follow the instructions on the device.

It is important to ensure that your AED is in proper working order and all the components are not expired. Check the battery, pads, and electrodes to make sure they are all in good condition. If there are any problems with your AED, contact the manufacturer or local emergency services for assistance.

AEDs are not required at most Texas businesses. However, we rely on business owners to have them available in case of an emergency.

AEDs are attached to numerous landmarks, especially in easily accessible public locations, oftentimes because it's been deemed beneficial for more people to learn about them should someone suddenly collapse in front of them.

We will always highly recommend you spend a few hours in a CPR class learning how to properly work your AED. In the event of a crisis you don't want to try and figure out how to work it. that being said todays modern AEDs, especially the public access ones you see out and about, are designed to be operated by someone who's never had any training whatsoever in their use.

You open the box, hit the “On” button, and it will actually tell you how to use it. Place the AED pads on the patients bare chest. There’s a diagram on the package showing you where to place the two pads. Plug the pads into the AED. Let it do its work. It will let you know if it needs to shock the patient or not, and it will charge itself automatically.

But really all you have to do is follow the verbal instructions until professional help arrives….you just might save a life.

(Which is exactly WHY public access AEDs are proliferating, and are intended to be used by anyone walking by in an emergency in the first place).
